My research focuses on Peru´s marine biodiversity, especially on the effects of climate variability (e.g. ENSO events) on the benthic communities of the rocky intertidal zone.
In cooperation with MAGNET colleagues, museums and collections, I´m building a database of Peru´s marine biodiversity. This database will help us to better understand the response of benthic communities and key animal groups to extreme climatic events (El Niño) and long-term climatic tendencies, as well as to assess the anthropogenic pressure at the Peruvian coast. Analyzing the changes of biogeographic patterns in time will give us the tools to develop an adequate monitoring, which is necessary for biodiversity conservation and natural resources management.
I´m a postdoc in the MAGNET project and associated researcher of CIDIS and CORBIDI.
I´m also species representative for the marine otter Lontra felina at the IUCN Otter Specialist Group.
